Asian Inspiration

Adding Asian cuisine to your menu is a great way to make sure kids are eating nutrient-rich meals. When you think of a traditional stir fry, it consists of nearly every food group (meats, vegetables, grains and sometimes fruits). The Asian cuisine is an easy one to construct with common ingredients schools have on hand. To accomplish the stir fry look, steam vegetables, add that to diced meat, lightly toss with an Asian sauce (that isn't high in sodium) and serve with brown rice.

Here are some simple stir-fry style recipes to work into your monthly meal plan.

SPICY GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN: General Tso's Sauce over diced chicken, chopped red peppers and green onions.

CITRUS MANDARIN ORANGE CHICKEN: Mandarin Orange Sauce over diced chicken and chopped red peppers, served with orange wedges.
